★Professor Matsuda and Professor Kitahara‘s student presented the research achievements at the international conference (ISEA2026)
Professor Matsuda (ARIHHP/ Institute of Systems and Information Engineering), and Shunzo Yamagishi (ARIHHP RA), a graduate student supervised by Professor Kitahara (ARIHHP/CCS), made an oral presentation at ISEA2026 Conference – The Engineering of Sport 16, held on Jun 1 to 4 in Washington State University, WA, USA.
Professor Matsuda developed a method for measuring the elbow support effects of commercially available pronation arm sleeves and elbow supporters for baseball. Tests were conducted using actual products, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Professor Kitahara and Yamagishi worked on improving the accuracy of player position estimation from sports video. They created a CG-based dataset and developed a machine learning model for estimating the position obtained by orthogonally projecting the player’s pelvis onto the field. Experiments on test data showed that the proposed method achieved higher player position estimation accuracy than conventional methods.
