【Press Release】Visiting Professor Hideaki Soya, formerly affiliated with ARIHHP, and colleagues’ article was published in an international journal

The research conducted by Visiting Professor Hideaki Soya, formerly affiliated with ARIHHP, and his colleagues has been published in The Journal of Physiological Sciences and announced through a university press release. Thiamine (vitamin B1) derivatives, which are chemically modified to enhance tissue transfer and absorption, are known to promote motivation for physical activity. In this study, the researchers administered a thiamine derivative (thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide: TTFD) to rats and measured their electroencephalography before and after administration to examine its effects on sleep-wake states. The results revealed that the TTFD promotes wakefulness.
