★Research by assistant professor Sado and research assistant Hobo has been awarded at an international conference.

Research by Assistant Professor Natsuki Sado (ARIHHP) and graduate student and research assistant: Ayaka Hobo (ARIHHP) under his supervision was awarded 1st Place in the New Investigator Award (Poster) at the 43rd International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS).

The study demonstrated that inter-individual variance in plantar fascia strain during continuous single-leg hopping can be explained solely by plantar fascia stiffness, providing the first in-vivo evidence for the stiffness–strain relationship of the plantar fascia. This finding substantiates the previously speculative notion that a more compliant plantar fascia experiences higher strain during locomotion, potentially increasing the risk of plantar fasciitis.

The award is open to all student members and researchers within two years of earning a degree, with the top three recipients recognized in both the oral and poster categories.
