★Research by assistant professor Sado and graduate student Hashimoto has been awarded at an international conference
Research by assistant professor Sado, graduate student Hashimoto (ARIHHP Research Assistant) et al. has been awarded the World Athletics Award by the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB).
The research group analysed the joint-level dynamics of the upper limb during the shotput motion and found that the wrist torque and power during the shotput motion are strongly related to the performance, which differs from the established theory that musculoskeletal function around the proximal joint is more important for performance improvement than the distal joint, as proposed in the analysis of the triple extension action of the lower limb.
This award is sponsored by World Athletics. First, four outstanding studies within submitted according to each year’s theme (2024: throwing) are selected. Groups carrying out these four studies submit a further manuscript in the form of a full paper, and only the best single study from these full papers is awarded.
Winners: Hashimoto, S., Tominaga, T., Ohyama-Byun, K., Sado, N.
